2000 Pending Issues - #2
Resource Economics
LLC is pleased to announce the completion of the September 2000
Pending Issues of our Timber Supply and Product Demand Service.
The September 2000 pending issue contains five sections. The first
is a descriptive update of the macroeconomic drivers for the US
and Canada used in our June 2000 Short Term Outlook. The update
includes information that was not available before the completion
of our Short Term Outlook, this includes information from the 1st
and 2nd quarters of 2000. Comparisons are also made with the actual
year-end data and our June 2000 projected year data.
The second section
is a historical perspective of the U.S economy and wood products
consumption. Current trends in timberland ownership, and the impacts
of current log stumpage markets are also discussed.
The third section
provides a review and comparison of the RPA 2000 Draft Review forecast.
This section focuses on the differing assumption base us by the
RPA 2000 and how the RPA base compares to the historical base and
past forecasts. The production and consumption levels of plywood,
OSB, lumber, and paper and paperboard are compared to our current
forecast.
The fourth section
addresses the timber inventory of Oregon and the current 1995 Draft
survey results. In-depth inventory analysis and review of the state
is graphically presented. Historical data and explanations are also
discussed.
The fifth section
compares and updates our composite product prices and log prices
in our 2000 Short Term Outlook, with the mid-year actual prices.
Composite product prices are projected and explained quarterly for
the year 2000. West Coast dimension log and southern dimension sawtimber
quarterly prices are also presented.
